Effective January 1, 2024 water rates will increase by 3% to help pay for critical upgrades and infrastructure projects to keep the water system operating efficiently. The rate changes increase quarterly bills for most single-family customers by an average of four dollars. Customers’ rates will help pay the estimated $12 million cost of the South Street treatment plant that will be constructed in 2025 to remove elevated levels of arsenic. In addition, the proposed federal regulation of the PFOA and PFOS “forever chemicals” in 2024 is expected to require additional treatment processes be installed at all of our of existing treatment plants. The existing treatment plants do not have the necessary floor space to accommodate the new treatment processes and will require additions to be constructed to facilitate the large filter vessels.
All our costs are paid for by rates and fees, not taxes.
